Birch is known for its plywood veneers, but its wood is soft in tone and easy to work with; it should not be used in an outdoor setting since its grains are porous due it being a "colonizing tree" It converts open fields into lush forests like the Poplars or Willows. It's rare for these trees to grow in a large diameter because sturdier and higher canopy trees usually take over them.
